Abounding Love

Shiny happy people

A good attitude will help set the stage for the Spirit of God to work through us and in us. To love one another is the highest of all virtues. I see the struggles and heartaches that people go through. This prevents one from thinking about others. The one thing that can help overcome this is to set your thoughts on the love of God, and be at peace with one another. Take the time to meditate on what is means to love and walk in love. Respect, honor and help serve one another. Love is to be abundant in the heart of God’s people. Others will see it to and take note. Jesus said, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” (Jn. 13:35)

Let love abound. Abounding love means to let love be huge in your midst. If God is love and His presence is among us then we the see the love of God in the faces of the people in the church. It will flow in us and through us. Paul tells the Philippian church, “And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ. (Phil. 1:9-10)

To love is the highest call in our lives. To love one another must be the motivation for everything that the church does. It is our love for God and for one another that is the motivation for the things that we do. We are patient with one another, we don’t bring up past failures, we teach with patience knowing that sometimes people don’t get it the first time and we repeat things over and over. We do this because we love Jesus, we love others and He loves us.

Take time to meditate on the love of God, he will reveal this to you as you read the live of Christ in the gospels and 1 John. Then go and do it.
