An Electrifying Dog Tale

English: Lightning over Las Cruces, New Mexico...

As boys growing in a neighborhood full of other boys we found things to keep us entertained. One day we were playing with a lawn mower pulling on it in hopes that it would run. As I recall my friend removed the condenser wire to see if that was the problem. Me, the friend that I was I gave the pull cord, a good yank. My friend lite up as the electric jolt went through him. We both fell over laughing.

“Hey, what did that feel like?”

“Here you hold it.”

The electric shock passed through my body in waves. As the fly-wheel turned and finally came a stop. We were careful not to pull too hard. We called out to some of the others in the canyon where we lived.

“Hey Henry, Richie, Louie come here.’

“What, what are you guys doing.”

“Here hold on to that”

Yah, yah, yah yah as we felt the charge go through us. There were several were gathering as the laughter got louder. It was not long before we had a whole circle of friends. Laughing and taking places with the one pulling the cord.

Then it was when it happened. My friends short-haired hound came nosing around and I grabbed one of his back legs as my friend reached and took hold of his cropped tail. The excitement was already up… “Pull the cord, quick pull it now.”

In the excitement of the moment (dog) the cord was pulled with some torque. The charge went through us and through the dog’s leg and tail and as soon as it was over he shot out like horse from the gate; crying and whimpering, not sure what had happened.

Silver is the highest conductor of electricity

You guessed it the we were all rolling around the ground laughing.

We were free spirits then. Enjoying our summers with the things around us to entertain us. There was no harm done to the dog. He was a bit shocked at the experiment as we were at first.

The power of God is just as real as the jolt of electricity. One day John Kelly and I were talking to a  business owner about spiritual things after one of our meetings. The ghost in the house kinda spiritual stories. As he would do he would say something about ghosts and she admittedly said that she had an experience with ghosts. After some discussion and when the opportunity opened I said, “We should pray over this ghost in your house. She agreed and I said, “Let me start by praying for you.”

“Ok”, she said.

I prayed concerning the presence of this spirit (ghost) in her house, the ability to stand against it in the name and in the blood of Jesus and the need to stand on the words that were spoken to this entity. After I finished praying I took my hand off their shoulder. She looked at me and then looked at John and said, “Wow, did you feel that? There was an electric like sensation that moved through my body. There was some power in that prayer. In all the years I have asked for prayer  from my bishop and the leaders of my church and I have had all the prayers you can get. I have never felt the power of God like that.” John and I just smiled at one another.

We assured her, “That was the Holy Spirit working things out in your situation. You were able to experience the power of God over that spiritual presence in your house”. We explained that the things of the spirit are real and what she needed to do to stand on the Name of Jesus and how to handle that spirit.

Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. Acts 8:17-19

And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live. Mark 5:23

Have you had people pray for you and sense the power of God flow over you?

Have you needed a touch from God but did not know where to get it?

Have you tried going up for prayer when people are gathered at a worship service?

You should not be surprised to know that there is a living God and that this conductive flow of love from God is available to you at all times.

We have the spirit of God living in us. We are empowered once we invite Jesus into our hearts and He releases his spirit in us. It is there to help people get in touch with God. Take the time to look for that life and power that comes from the true and living God.

    Great article, Lupe! Thank you.
So in answer to your questions:

Q: Have you had people pray for you and sense the power of God flow over you?

    A: YES!!!!!

Q: Have you needed a touch from God but did not know where to get it?

A: No. Thankfully I was raised in a Christian home under the guidance of the great faith of my mother. She taught us well. I always knew where to go for help. 🙂

Q: Have you tried going up for prayer when people are gathered at a worship service?

A: YES!!!! It is such an awesome privilege to pray for others.

    Blessings!

Yikes, this is horrible. Not funny at all.

Well if I would have given you the full story in context you still would not be happy with me. I assume you are a Christian, and possibly a mother of boys, looking at various web pages and came across mine.

With that in mind I will give you the rest of the story. As humans made in the image of God we are able to logically figure out what happened after the initial shock of the electric charge going through us. That is not the case for the dog, no understanding of where this feeling came from. Now, if all we, as boys, had was a whimper and a cry for sounds from our vocal cords; we would have made the same sound that the dog. I think that this is where you think the foul play took place was that the dog could not figure it out and we could as eight and twelve year old boys.

My point is that you are more concerned about the condition of the dog more than you are for the kids that were subjecting themselves to the same electric charge. There was no more harm to the dog; as there was none to the boys around the circle. As they say “boys will be boys” and we were. Let’s judge righteously here. This is what happened and yes we laughed at the dog just as much and even more at each other. I would be concerned for both the boys and the dog together. The fact that you only mention the dog is what gets me.

I am not falling for this political correctness jargon and rewriting this story. “That is my story and sticking to it.”
