Life is not Scripted

Trust

…we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead,  who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us,  you also helping together in prayer for us,.. (2 Corinthians 1:9b-10a)

I have heard many people say things like, “Where was God when I needed Him.” “I have tried that religious stuff it doesn’t work.”

Most of the time when people make these kinds of statements they have faced some difficult times. The outcome is usually not what they had envisioned. They thought that things should have turned out a different way.

Another thing I have heard people say is, “That did not turn out the way I thought it would!” Sometimes we have a Cinderella ideal of how things should be, or we want out of that situation.

God in many cases is looked on as the big Santa Clause in the sky. You can tell Him what you want and presto you have it gift wrapped and life is back on track. However that is not the way it works.

We can compare this kind of approach to life, to movie making. We want things to be different, but the fact is that they are not, life is disappointing. “Life is not scripted.” It is what it is. In the movie industry scenes are scripted and they will run the film and the scenes until it is just the way they want it. There is no room for other than what is scripted.

Jesus said that there would be troubles (Matthew 7:24-26). God is not that big Santa in the sky. Sometimes the outcomes are not what you may have hoped for. However, that does not mean that God has abandoned you.

You have just found yourself in a place to trust in God and to know that all things work together for good. Here is the full verse. And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8;28).

When you belong to God everything that happens to you happens with God’s foreknowledge. God can see how this will affect you in the coming years. All things do work together  for good.

Many have not thought about just giving their lives up to God and know that He can raise the dead. What else in this world is there to trust in?

Have faith in God. He promised never to leave you or forsake you. It is great knowing this verse in the times that you face heartache and disappointments. Remember life is not scripted and will not necessarily turn out your way. It is where God will see us through.

Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me” (John 14:1). I know God will see you though.

…we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead,  who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us, (2 Corinthians 1:9-10)

May God bless you in all things,

Pastor Lupe
